When you need to look for help to pay bills, it is important to know some key things.

1.    Know what they offer help with

Not all agencies are able to offer help with all needs.

Some may be able to provide food only.

Others may offer only financial assistance.

Others may only make partial payments on rent and utility bills.

2.    Know what is required of you

Different agencies and organizations have different eligibility and application requirements.

Depending on the agency, it may just be a home visit to meet with you and discuss your needs.

For others, you may be required to provide verification of citizenship, residency, employment, income and other types of information.

3.    Getting an appointment does not mean that you are guaranteed assistance.

It means you have an appointment.

Some agencies you can call, some require an appointment, some you can just walk in.

If you don't follow the correct application process, you may end up at the bottom of the list.
