Everyone is facing tough times right now. This includes Charitable Organizations whose funds are almost totally from donations.

Remember that Charities receive funds through donations from kind people who are helping others. Most donations come from ordinary people who may be struggling just like you, and don't have as much to donate.

And many more people are in need and asking for help now. For many organizations, the requests are the highest they have ever had.

Because more people are asking for help, and donations may be down, that is why funds may be low.

They may or may not have the funds you need exactly when you need them the most.

Don't give up!

Charities are there to help, and they will help as much as they can. Many organizations are willing to do whatever they can afford. That is, they are often willing to provide a portion of what you need.

Therefore, you may need to get funding from a combination of sources.

Here is what you can do when a Charity says they cannot help:

1.   If they say they have no funds, always ask them if they know of other agencies that may be able to help. Then call the other agencies.

2.   If they say their funds are limited, ask if they can help with part of the amount you need, if you can come up with the rest. Then call other agencies and do the same thing.

3.   Be sure to keep track of how much each agency is able to offer, and call them back when you have the total amount pledged.

We live in a very generous society that helps people in need.

So, don't give up! It just means that you may need to contact more than one Charity.

Remember those who help you. When you get back on your feet, you can help your fellow citizens with donations to a food bank, agency or church.
